Adorable Ladybug First Birthday Party Ideas & Photos

When my youngest daughter, Paige, turned One, I couldn’t wait to Celebrate her First Birthday! It’s such an Amazing Milestone in a Little One’s Life.

It had been 6 years since our previous First Birthday, and we all felt like we deserved a Party after surviving 12 months with Baby Paige and 2 other Kids while we both worked Full Time.

We chose an Adorable Ladybug Theme for the Celebration, and what a Beautiful day it was, spent with our Family and Friends!

For our Ladybug Party, we Naturally chose Red & Black as our Theme Colours. Not only do they match the little bugs, they also Look Bright and Bold Together!

I used the Colours for the Tablecloths. For guest seating there were Bright Red Tablecloths and we just used our White patio Chairs. The Featured Party Tables had Red Tablecloths with Black Skirting.

I sprinkled Red & Black Ladybug Decorations wherever I could, including on the Tables and Walls! I even made Personalised Ladybug Wine Labels for the day.

Lady Bug First Birthday Photo Banner

Because it was Paige’s First Birthday, I wanted to do something special to Commemorate her first 12 months in our Family!

Using our lattice wall I created a Photo Montage of Paige. It had a photo of her each month since she was born. It was a Gorgeous way to see how she had changed over the last 12 months.

I know this isn’t the Best Photo of it (the light was in the worst position when I tried to take photos), but I hope this gives you an idea for your own little one’s Ladybug Themed Party!

One of my Favourite Trends is dressing Babies in Outfits that Match their Party Themes! We did the same for Paige in a Cute Ladybug Outfit.

As soon as I saw this Outfit on Etsy, I knew that I wanted it. It was so Adorable. I'm glad I started planning early as it was made it in the US and I was so thankful I had the time to have it shipped in time. A Big Shoutout to Baby Trendzz for the Gorgeous Custom Outfit that they made for Paige!

Ladybug Birthday Cake

Paige's 1st Birthday Cake was so Beautiful it looked like we could have bought it! But I am so Proud of my Partner, Beau, for making this. He spent weeks on YouTube trialling different techniques.

In the end, he made a 3 Layered Cake. Each layer was a different Cake Flavour with a different Fondant Colour. He Decorated it with Satin Ribbon, a 1st Birthday Candle, and Fondant decorations which he bought off eBay.

If you aren’t up for making your own Three Layer Fondant Cake, here are some DIY Cake Hacks you might enjoy instead!

Beau also made Paige's “Smash Cake.” I love the Smash Cake Idea, because a one-year-old can have so much Fun Eating with Messy Hands or just Biting Right off the Cake, but everyone else can still enjoy the Official, Unsmashed Birthday Cake.

To make the Smash cake, Beau carved a Round Chocolate Sponge into an oval shape and decorated with Red & Black Buttercream frosting and Fondant eyes, mouth, and antennae.

Ladybug Photo Opportunities

We made sure to Photograph Paige enjoying her Smash Cake! It was so Adorable and she had a Blast.

It was a DIY setup, with a White Cloth over our Concrete floor and a Crepe Streamer hung behind. The Crepe Streamer was super easy to make. You just Need a Long Piece of Dowel and some Crepe!

We doubled the Coloured Crepe over the Dowel and Stapled it in place at the top.

Paige would have to have been the Cleanest child I had ever seen at a Cake Smash. Not one mark on her white top but looking super cute as she delicately ate her cake.

Baby Birthday Party Play Area

I usually talk about Birthday Party Games and Activities, but at Paige’s Ladybug Themed Party, she was the only baby there! So we made her a Special Play Area so she could have fun at her First Birthday Party.

Even if you have several babies at a party, this is a great way to keep them Entertained!

We used Bamboo to fence off her area so that she couldn't get into the garden or down the stairs to the backyard. We used foam camping mats to create a colourful and soft ground for play as she was not yet walking. And we were lucky enough to get this Inflatable Slide with Ball pit from Kmart for $30. Needless to say she had so much fun we left it up for a couple of weeks for her to play in!
