Fun & Easy Ideas for a Minions Birthday Party

How to Throw a Minions Party

When I was just starting out my Party Supply Business, I created a Minions Party Theme and used it for my son Donte’s 7th Birthday Party.

The exact line of supplies I created back then has been discontinued and replaced with these Personalised Minions Birthday Party Decorations.

But I still want to share the Party and Pictures that I used several years ago! I had a lot more time on my hands back then, and I was able to create some Wonderful & Fun Games, Decorations, and Food that you could use for your own Minions Birthday Party.

Minions Party Decorations

For any Party Theme, I like to start with the Colours. This helps me pull together the Whole Space. For the Minions Birthday Party Theme, I used the colours Blue and Yellow, to represent the characters and their clothes.

And then it was just a matter of choosing decorations that matched!

The Party Tables always help create the Celebration Space. For Donte’s Minions Birthday Party, I used two Trestle Tables, one for Cake & Food and the other for Party Bags & Presents. I covered each table in Blue Tablecloth and decorated the front with Minions Flag Bunting.

I also created a Minions Party Wall Display. This was personalised with Donte’s name in blue and yellow letters, and I also hung Despicable Me Posters, which he got to move to the walls of his room after the party!

For some finishing touches, I hung Blue & Yellow Balloons tied in pairs with Gold Curling ribbon. Coloured Balloons are always an easy way to fill the space and help create the Theme.

I also hung DIY Minion Paper Lanterns from the roof. They were Super Easy to Make with Yellow Paper Lanterns. I have created a Quick Tutorial Post of how to make them at Home in a couple of Easy Steps, including FREE Printable Minions Eyes. Check it out Here: Easy DIY Minions Paper Lanterns.

You can see the complete Party Space below:

Minions Photo Prop

I came up with a Neat Idea of creating a Minion Photo Prop so all the kids could have their pictures taken as a minion during the party!

This Minions Cardboard Cut-Out was one of the Coolest Pieces I have made. I used cardboard and paint to make a standing Minion Cutout, and all of the guests loved standing behind it for their photos. I have Created a Post with a Step by Step Tutorial on how it was made, see – How to Make a Minions Cardboard Cut Out at Home.

I just love these pictures of the kids with their Minion Eyes and Fun, Mischievous Faces as they posed with the photo prop! It was perfect for the Minions Birthday Party Theme.

Easy Minions Party Food

The Party Food at Donte’s Minions Themed Birthday Party was both Easy & Creative. The Kids loved the Party Treats so that was a Bonus!

Here’s a picture of the Cake & Food Table, and I’ll also explain how I made everything:

Chocolate Spoons

Chocolate Spoons are so Easy to make and can be styled for any Party Theme. Dip Plastic Tablespoons in Nutella. Arrange them nicely on a Plate or a Platter, and Decorate. For the Minions Themed Party I placed Blue & Yellow M&M’s on each spoon. Then I chilled them in the Fridge before the Party.

Jelly Cups

Pick a Jelly Flavour or Colour that matches your Party Theme. For this Minions Birthday Party, I used Blue. Prepare the Jelly according to the instructions on the jelly packet, Pour into Small Clear Plastic Shot Glasses, let them set, and Serve!

Cupcakes

My cooking skills are quite limited so I used Chocolate Cupcake Mix and picked Cupcake cases that were Blue and Yellow. I iced them in Chocolate, and then Simply decorated them with Minions Cupcake Toppers.

Minions Biscuits

The Minions Biscuits were a hit on the day. To make, you will need Finger Shaped Biscuits, Yellow Icing, Blue Icing, Black Licorice Straps, Black Icing Gel & Mini White Marshmallows.

First, Ice the Bottom 1/3 of the Biscuit in Blue, then Ice the Top 2/3 of the Biscuit in Yellow. Cut the Licorice Straps into small pieces the width of the Biscuit and place toward the top of the yellow icing. Cut the Mini Marshmallows in half and place them in the middle of the licorice sticky side down. Using Black Icing Gel, add a Smile and an eyeball to the marshmallow. Perfect edible Minions!

Minions Birthday Cake

Donte loved the Minions Birthday Cake that I made for his Party. I have no Baking Skills but a lot of creativity, so I was pretty impressed with the Finished Cake. This is a quick run through of how I made it.

I ordered a Half Slab Vanilla Cake from the Supermarket. Using a Wooden Skewer I marked out an Oval Shape that would look like a Minion. I then cut out the Oval Shaped Minion with a Bread Knife.

With the Skewer again I drew and marked the Finer Details of the Minion – Overalls, Eyes, etc.

I dyed Vanilla Betty Crocker Frosting with Blue, Yellow & Black Icing Gels. Using a thin Paint Brush and the lines I had made with the Skewer as guides, I painted the Yellow Minion, Eyes, and Clothing with the Frosting. I used Black Licorice to give the Minion some hair.

You’ll notice that the Minion has Arms and Legs, but I didn’t make these out of cake! It was super easy to print the Minion Arms & Legs on the Computer. I just Cut and Laminated them before adding them to the base of the cake.

The finished product looks so Fun and Delicous, but I’m Very Proud of the minimal skill that was required to make this cake! If you know me, you know I Love Simple but Amazing Party Cakes!

Minions Party Games

Games are a great way to keep the Little Guests entertained, and I love that they never have to be Fancy to be Fun. It just takes a bit of Creativity to Pull Simple Party Games together.

We played lots of Fun & Easy Minions Party Games at Donte’s Minions Birthday Party, all of which I made myself at Home.

There was a Minion Pinata, Pass the Parcel, Pin the Eye on the Minion and my own Minions variation of Musical Chairs. For more details on the Minions Party Games that we played check out my Post – Fun & Easy Minions Party Games.
