Rustic Floral DIY Birthday Party Ideas: Decorations, Food, and Cake

I absolutely Love planning Parties that are Colourful, Messy, and Playful. But sometimes Celebrations call for themes that feel more Elegant, Pretty, or Grown Up.

If you’re ready to throw a Beautiful Rustic and Floral Themed Party, I have some Helpful Tips and Ideas to share with you. Most of them are from my Mum’s 60th Birthday Party, but as always, I encourage you to adapt the ideas however you like.

My Mum's Rustic Floral Themed 60th Birthday Party

When my Mum turned 60, I organised a Surprise Party for her which was really special. I created a Rustic Floral theme using Pastel Pink tones and Beautiful Flowers throughout the styling. We had Grazing Platters, a Nude Frosted Birthday Cake, and even a Mimosa Bar for the adults.

The biggest surprise of the day was when my Little Brother flew in from the US. You can see from the collage how different this party looks and feels compared to the Kids Parties I usually set up. It was the Perfect Celebration for my Mum.

Rustic Floral Party Area and Setup

For this Party Theme, I used Pink tones with Floral Elements, Rustic Wood, and a little Brick texture. Light Pink Tablecloths created the base, and I used Fake Pink Peonies and Roses in Glass Milk Bottles and Jars to create Simple but Stunning Centrepieces.

I also used Wooden Grazing Platters as both Centrepieces and Cake Platters, which looked beautiful with the Rustic theme.

Everything about this setup felt Elegant and Lovely. With plenty of seating and food served on Grazing Platters, the Adults could relax, mingle, and enjoy themselves.

Nude Floral Birthday Cake

I love a Cake Table that ties in beautifully with the theme. For my Mum’s Birthday, I served a Nude Frosted Cake, Iced Biscuits, Cupcakes, and Personalised Mini Chocolates.

You might recognise a few of my Favourite Hacks. I always make these no bake iced biscuits. And the Birthday Cake was a version of my Floral Mudcake Hack.

For this Cake Hack, I stacked three Chocolate Sponges, although Coles Mud Cakes work perfectly too. I Dirty Iced the Cake with Vanilla Frosting, added Fake Flowers from the centrepieces, and finished it with a Wooden 60 Cake Topper. It turned out Beautifully.

Grazing Platters

The Grazing Platters were a Huge Hit and matched the Rustic Floral theme perfectly. I used them as Table Centrepieces along with Bottles of Wine and Pretty Plastic Wine Glasses tied with Pink Curling Ribbon.

The Platters included Brie, Speciality Cream Cheese, Cheddar, Dips, Grapes, Watermelon, Strawberries, Crackers, Kabana, Lolly Snakes, and Fun Size Chocolates. They were colourful, delicious, and very easy to put together.

Mimosa Bar

A Mimosa Bar is such a fun and delicious feature for an Adult Celebration. It was one of my Favourite parts of the day and very simple to set up.

I served Sparkling Brut with Fruit Juices including Apple, Orange, Pineapple, Cranberry, and Grapefruit, along with Kiwi Fruit, Frozen Berries, Pineapple, Orange Slices, and Strawberries. Guests could mix their own Mimosas and dress them with their favourite fruits.
