How to Design Party Decorations in Canva and Have Them Professionally Printed
Creating your own party decorations should feel fun, not complicated. With our Design with Canva range, you can start with a ready-sized Canva template, add your own wording, colours, photos and creative touches, then leave the professional printing to Katie J Design & Events.
It is a lovely middle ground for customers who want creative control without having to work out print sizes, set up artwork from scratch or print everything at home.
A simple way to turn your Canva idea into a printed product
We have created matching blank Canva templates for every product in the Design with Canva collection. Each template is already set to the correct artwork size, so you can focus on the design rather than the technical setup.
You can browse every available template in the Katie J Customer Design Studio, choose the product you want to create and open its protected Canva template.
What can you design?
The collection includes 18 product types, giving you plenty of ways to turn one creative idea into matching party pieces, gifts or wearable designs:
- Party banners, posters, invitations and flag bunting
- Round stickers, rectangle stickers and party cup stickers
- Water bottle, mini chocolate, Tic Tac, wine and beer labels
- Party bags and labels
- Adult and kids' T-shirts, crop shirts and tank singlets
- Baby rompers and personalised tote bags
You can create one product or build a coordinated set using the same colours, fonts, photos and party theme across several matching templates.
How Design with Canva works
- Choose your product. Start in the Design with Canva collection and decide what you would like Katie J to print.
- Open the matching template. Use the Customer Design Studio to find the exact Canva template for that product and size.
- Create your artwork. Add your background, wording, photos and permitted Canva elements. Check names, ages, dates and spelling carefully.
- Download your finished design. Download the completed page as a high-quality PNG without crop marks.
- Upload it with your order. Return to the matching Katie J product, upload your finished file and check the online preview before adding it to your cart.
Posters and banners: what you see is what we print
Our posters and banners are hand trimmed, so you do not need to add bleed lines or separate safe-area guides. If your design is visible and positioned correctly in the online editor, that is how it will be printed.
Before downloading, look over the full design in Canva and make sure every word, photo and decorative element appears exactly where you want it. Then check the uploaded preview on the Katie J product page as your final confirmation.
Tips for artwork that prints beautifully
- Always use the matching template. Each product has its own dimensions, so open the correct template rather than resizing another product's file.
- Use clear, good-quality photos. Small or blurry images can look softer when printed at a larger size.
- Choose readable colours. Strong contrast between the background and wording makes names and party details easier to see.
- Check the important details twice. Names, ages, dates and event information will be printed exactly as supplied.
- Look at the complete online preview. Make sure everything is visible, correctly positioned and facing the right way before ordering.
Turn one idea into a matching party set
One of the nicest parts of designing in Canva is being able to build a consistent look across your celebration. You might begin with a banner, then open the matching poster, invitation, label and sticker templates and adapt the same visual style to each product.
Because every printed item has different proportions, use the correct template each time. You can carry across your colours, fonts and design elements while adjusting the layout so it looks balanced on the finished product.
Can I use Canva elements in my design?
You can use Canva elements subject to Canva's current licensing terms. Please do not use copyrighted or trademarked characters, logos or artwork unless you own them or have permission to use them.
If you already have finished artwork, the Design with Canva range gives you an easy way to place it into the correct template. If you would rather have Katie J prepare or adapt the artwork for you, our guide to custom design and print preparation services explains the available options.
