Directions for Making DIY Place Cards

It’s Easy to make DIY Place Cards. You only need some Card Stock, 3.5cm Round Stickers from Katie J Design & Events in your choice of theme, and some Craft Supplies like Coloured Pens.

Step 1

Make sure you have a Party Theme. It will be a lot easier to style your cards and find all of the best elements to add if you know the theme for your party.

Step 2

Pick matching sheets of A4 craft card sheets. Ideally, choose 200gsm or up for the best quality place cards. You could also get creative and choose other types of paper, like parchment paper, metallics, or pastels to achieve the effect you want.

Step 3

Carefully fold each of your A4 sheets in half, and then in half again. You will then have 4 equal parts of the paper. Optionally, you can also trace the creased lines with a pencil, but use a ruler so the line stays neat and straight.

(Tip: When you’re purchasing A4 sheets, each one will make 4 place cards. In this step, the folds help you evenly cut the A4 sheet into equal pieces for the 4 place cards.)

Step 4

Open back up the folded A4 sheet. Cut along the creases to make your 4 pieces of paper that you will use for 4 place cards.

Step 5

Take each small piece of A4. Fold it in half.

(Tip: If any of the folded pieces of A4 has trouble keeping a folded shape, you can press it under a paperweight or other heavy object such as a large book. Keep it there overnight.)

Step 6

Add one of our themed 3.5cm Round Stickers to one side of each place card. You’ll instantly have a themed decoration for each card!

Step 7

Use fancy pens to write a message on the place cards.

Remember, there are so many purposes for these cards, including Name Cards, Food Tags, Place Cards, Food Allergies, and Guest Seating.

(Tip: If you’ve finished your place cards but they still aren’t creasing properly, you can press them overnight.)

They really do make a Fun addition to your Celebration. Check out these Place Cards at Donte's Pokemon themed Birthday Party. What a Fun way to display for the Party Guests!
